The big problem in patents isn’t that bad ones can be overturned — especially given how difficult and expensive it can be to do so. The problem is the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and its abysmally lousy record for issuing lousy patents. Until someone — namely Congress — tackles the issue of patent quality, getting lousy ones overturned is only working at the margins of a much bigger mess.”(bron)
Ik heb het er hier nog niet over gehad, maar ik vind dat software en patenten twee heel slecht te combineren dingen zijn. We zijn in Europa hard op weg vergelijkbare (net zo stompzinnige) regels te accepteren als de VS, en Nederland doet niet echt veel om het te voorkomen. Treffend is natuurlijk dat de grote bedrijven er vreselijk voor zijn, en dan zou je als regering toch al nattigheid moeten gaan voelen.
