“I spent Saturday morning at Bloggercon II at the Harvard Law School. While I found some of the information I learned there useful, in the end I was disappointed and decided not to stay on for the afternoon sessions. At the heart of my frustration was the format. The sessions were organized by topic and moderated by people who are not experts on the topic. This was a conscious strategy on the part of the organizers, which I think was a mistake. What resulted in the three sessions I attended was descriptive information, but no great or real insights into the topic under discussion.”(bron)
Omdat ik de OPML lijst van mensen die zich ingeschreven hadden voor BloggerCon II geïmporteerd had, kwam ik uiteraard een paar berichten tegen van mensen die er geweest zijn. Niet allemaal even positief (zoals deze eerste qoute van Kathleen Gilroy). Ik neem een paar reactie hier als lessons learned, of als gewoon aardige uitspraken:

First of all, you’ll notice that this entry doesn’t come while bloggercon is actually happening, but the day after. Thanks to their choice of using an adhoc wireless network, there were plenty who couldn’t get on the network all day, including us. Adhoc mode is for military vehicles out in the desert, not this. Technische problemen zijn er altijd, Murphy zorgde ook voor last-minute problemen rond het opzetten van de webcast.
De conclusie van Kathleen Gilroy over BloggerCon als evenement was:
I think the organizers of Bloggercon need to understand that blogging has become mainstream and that time spent at a conference has to yield more than random data. This requires really well moderated sessions, thoughtful organization of panels, with expert presentations. The blogging format of free, random expression does not translate to a good, effective conference.
Een andere wijze les van Wes:
Frankly I don’t see why bloggers are so concerned with their blog rank. I would hope that most people start blogging for reasons other than popularity.
Tot zover even deze eerste post, de komende dagen zullen er vast nog andere berichten opduiken van mensen die er zijn geweest, dus nog veel te vroeg voor een eindconclusie.
